Mission
Our global Mission is to provide the world that educates good men better for their family, community, country and fraternity, through the practice of the most important tenets of Shingon Mikkyo: Gratitude and Compassion Theory, Degree of Mind and World Peace. To Educate, Practice, and Enlighten a way of life that binds like-enlightened men in a worldwide leader that overcomes all cultural, social and educational differences.
Teaching Overview
Through the practice of Mikkyo, students will learn how to best live in the present moment with less stress and less manifestation of the “Three Poisons Cycle” (Anger, Craving and Whinging) the cause of all human suffering. Lectures and discussions will focus on basic Buddhist teachings, and these teachings will be taught through the guidance of Mikkyo Professor or Ordained Master. Not only will students be taught Mikkyo techniques, but also spiritual concepts will be taught which will allow students to understand their relationship with the universe. Individual spiritual counseling and guidance is also offered.

Purpose Statement
The constituency and ownership of Eimei University, the Shingon Mikkyo Kunimiyama Daikokuji America, and EIMEI UNIVERSITY alumni have clearly articulated their desire for Eimei University to establish Mikkyo Studeis programs for the purpose of developing capable universal leaders to the society. The University seeks students who are serious about Mikkyo Studies and doing the gratitude and compassion.
Objectives
The University is committed to upholding Mikkyo Studies, instruction from the founder, and the belief that Mikkyo Studies must deal with the moral, social, spiritual, and academic dimensions of the student. The general objectives expressed below indicate qualities Eimei University regards as generally essential for effective Mikkyo Studies.
Therefore, it is the objective of the university to provide the necessary educational environment, instructional resources, and practical experiences so that graduates, within the framework of Mikkyo Studies, potential and abilities, may be reasonably expected to demonstrate the following:

Ownership
Eimei University has been owned and operated by the Shingon Mikkyo Kunimiyama Daikokuji America which is officially approved as a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization by Internal Revenue Service. We offer mindfulness and educational services for a wide variety of programs based on Shingon Mikkyo Buddhism. Initial function of Eimei University is truly as Mikkyo Buddhist education for members.
Membership
There are two different kind of membership to be accepted as students and staff. The first group is bona fide member who belongs to Shingon Mikkyo Kunimiyama Daikokuji America as Minister, Minister in training, Disciple, Practitioner, Staff, and their family member. The second group is member who has been authorized to register with strong commitment to be part of Eimei University.
Governance
Eimei University, its governing board, officers, staff, and faculty are in agreement with and committed to Mikkyo Studies as summarized from Shingon Mikkyo Buddhism.
Governance of the university lies in the hands of its Board of Trustees. The trustees select the president, oversee faculty and senior administrative appointments, monitor the budget, supervise the endowment, and protect university property. The Board of Trustees meets quarterly and has a diverse membership that includes trustees with expertise in finance, strategic planning, law, academics, administration, and Buddhist values and learning. All members are highly committed to the success and continued growth of Eimei University.
The university officers manage day-to-day operations of Eimei University. This cadre of experienced executives, working with the accomplished faculty and staff, daily puts Eimei University’s mission into action in curriculum, classroom, and campus community.

Financial support
Most students at Eimei University receive Financial Aid or equivalent as long as they are members from Daikokuji America. University depends upon Daikokuji America individuals, Daikokuji Head Temple, and contracted affiliation for financial support. These resources and a growing list of supporters outside California provide the basic support for the educational activities of Eimei University. Students who are accepted in special circumstance such as affiliated institutional exchange students or students who cross-register with other institution may be able to receive support from original institution.

Shingon Mikkyo, our Belief
Flourished in India during the VII and VIII centuries and subsequently spread to China during the Tang dynasty, before reaching Japan from China in the IX century through Kukai, whose posthumous name is Kobo-Daishi. Kukai finalized its teaching as Shingon(True Word) Mikkyo 1200 years ago in Japan. In seeking the truth of life, a large number of people has believed and believes in Mikkyo. The idea of Mikkyo differs greatly from Western philosophy: 'every person is in himself Buddha and every being (not only plants and animals, but also mountains, rivers and even stones) are in themselves Buddha'. The idea is better understood by considering the Mandala. The Mandala is a diagrammatic image representing the cosmic nature of the Buddha of the bodhisattva and other divinities. It is considered a symblol of the earth, the sun, the moon, the stars and the entire universe. People have always expressed these Buddha of the Mandala in the shape of sculptures, paintings or Buddhist altar pieces (objects used when the faithful are praying).

Campus and class location have depend on donation from Daikokuji America individuals, Daikokuji Head Temple, and contracted affiliation. Current locations are at Hakone Japanese Garden and other designated venues. Those are donated or supported upon the commitment and contract.
Hiring Teacher Philosophy, Three different kinds of Faculty
We hire three different group of teacher. First group is who has expertise on philosophy
such as Shingon Mikkyo, Religion, Ethics, history in order to provide universal principle of the universe. Second group is who has experience and professional in academia to provide basic academic skills such as linguistics, cultural practice, art, and music. Third group is who has professionalism and experience in practical fields to provide skills for living and serving in the society such as business, commercial, and other professional fields. All faculty and staff will be encouraged to continue their learning by exchanging wisdom in each specialized field. It helps them to keep learning what they need to be sophisticated kind rather than better instructor. Faculty is required to spend time and share obstacle with students at their best commitment.

Provisional students, excluded public or affiliated, are advised to state their wishes to study at Eimei University in order to encourage and maintain their purpose. Without strong commitment and eagerness for learning, Mikkyo education is hardly accomplished.

Main purpose of donation is to maintain sustainable operation for entire university.
We appreciate and ask all donator who brings any kind of donation to preserve operational quality.
Especially, students are deserved exempt status from tuition during their enrollment for the purpose of concentration on learning. Faculty member is also to be reserved rights to maintain their social status in finance such as salary and pension for the purpose of concentration on teaching.

Eimei University is founded on the original philosophy of Kokoro Education.
Kokoro in Japanese generally means ‘mind’, ‘heart’, and ‘center’.
However, we translate the word as ‘universe’ based upon the teachings of Shingon Mikkyo.
There are two kinds of universes. One is macro universe where we live in, and the other universe is micro universe which resides inside us.
Kokoro (universe) is not locked up in a certain space. Kokoro changes its own shape in every instant in accordance with invisible elements. When the shape is confirmed in both macro and micro universes, and when we recognize the fused body of the two universes together, we call it Kokoro.
In brief, Kokoro education gives the students the methods which enables them create peace inside them and exterior to them both spiritually and materially.
The students at Eimei University will be taught the essence of Kokoro education. They practice Kokoro philosophy and create mindful environments with fellow students, teachers and other participants in the society. When they graduate, they will leave this place with full knowledge and experiences, which they will employ for the peace of two universes in any circumstances.
The courses at Eimei University always take up problems and topics from real life and society. We also employ three recurring methods.
One is moral lessons. When we look back any problems in our life and society with questions, we often find beneficial teaching for us. In Mikkyo, this cycle is called mercy and gratitude. Mercy connects with questions, and Gratitude turns into teachings.
The second is spiritual training. The students are expected to demonstrate the teachings when they find any defects in their experiences. They will acquire spiritual strength through the ordeal.
In Mikkyo this is appreciated as blessed transformation.
The third is Satori (enlightenment). The students need to apply their discoveries within themselves to the real world problems. Their learnings become meaningful when they make contribution to the changes of the world. In Mikkyo, this idea is defined as world peace.
Buddhism defines three basic poisons (San-Doku) of human nature as Ton (Greed), Jin (Anger), and Chi (Whinging). Although they are natural human qualities, the students are encouraged to get rid of those three poisons throughout when they practice Kokoro education. It is important to be aware of the three poisons at any conditions.
