On the road to enlightenment, we are still incomplete, but we appreciate our failures. If we are making a lot of progress and learning out of our failures, then people around us grow and appreciate as well. Our experiences form the package called wisdom. During practice, imagine in front of you your imperfect, maybe dirty, form and then turn yourself into a glorious Buddha. What kind of crown, armor, dress, or gown are you wearing? This is to help yourself grow, and to practice splitting your chanting body and your imaginary story.
Shomyo practice helps us to make the transitions in our visualization stories much smoother when we perform actual ritual.
