Kyo Ritsu Ron: Sutra Rules Theory
We should have three topics in front of us to move up the steps to enlightenment.
The highest theory we like to reach is Kyo; Sutra. All sutras are the state of mind, findings and learnings of an enlightened person. For anybody who has reached to the top who has nothing to worry about, nothing to preach about, the theory is written in the sutra. The sutra is the benefit and asset of an enlightened person.
Ritsu is precepts/rules/manners. The Master needs to provide the rules as ladders so that the disciple will bring the theory with them. The rules part is like education- how we can learn by what kind of scale, what kind of approach. If the Master doesn't provide the rules or steps and clear procedure, then students cannot climb up the ladders or make anything happen. "Manners Makes the Man" -The Kingsman movie. Rules, ethics, physical ethics, emotional ethics, theoretical ethics are especially necessary for training in Mikkyo.
For Theory, the historical Buddha chose suffering/pain. He saw the world, mankind, everything through what kind of suffering people have and what kind of suffering is brought to something/someone. Kukai's theory/theme/root of motivation was the secret of the universe. Newton's theory/interest was law of nature, law of gravity.
Theory is available anywhere. We can challenge our theory to a Master and people at a higher level of mind to try to convince them of its truth and existence.
